All are welcome to attend this celebration, where attendees will learn how voluntary participation in this initiative helps property owners to increase asset value, reduce operating costs, and create a healthier community.
The Burlington 2030 District is committed to a future that empowers citizens, organizations, and institutions with knowledge, planning and design tools to achieve a sustainable, energy efficient, and carbon-neutral future. “We are excited to share this strategic partnership and important initiative with the Burlington community at large,” states Jenna Antonino DiMare, Burlington 2030 District Director.
The launch event will celebrate the Burlington 2030 District’s establishment, goals, and successes thus far, and will provide a venue for prospective members to learn about and join the initiative. Leading Burlington businesses and institutions have committed over 6 million square feet to participate in the Burlington 2030 District. Some of the first property owners/managers to participate in the program include City Place Burlington, Champlain College, Burlington School District, University of Vermont Medical Center, Farrell Properties, Nick and Morrissey, and Main Street Landing.
Local leaders and property owners from the Burlington 2030 District, who are committed to reducing building energy consumption, water use, and transportation emissions 50% by 2030, will be available to talk about their successes. Speakers will include Mayor Miro Weinberger, Burlington 2030 District property owner member, Jeff Nick, and Director, Jenna Antonino DiMare. Burlington 2030 is the 17thcity nationwide to sign on to this timely initiative.
