VT F&W Seeks Let's Go Fishing Program Instructors
The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is seeking volunteers who would like to become 'Let's Go Fishing' instructors so they can pass on Vermont's fishing tradition to the next generation of Vermonters.
The department will be hosting a one-day, free training workshop for new instructors onSaturday, April 15, at the ANR Annex building, 190 Junction Road, Berlin, VT.
The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department will be hosting a series of free fishing clinics this spring and summer, including four specialized courses focused on specific tactics and species of fish.
"We're excited to offer these targeted fishing clinics to the angling public this year," said Corey Hart, 'Let's Go Fishing' coordinator with Vermont Fish & Wildlife. "The clinics are structured very similar to our basics of fishing courses, but will dig deeper into specific techniques, equipment and strategies used to pursue certain species of fish."
Vermont Game Warden Awarded Statewide K9 Law Enforcement Award
A Vermont state game warden was one of two winners of a statewide award for the 2016 K9 Detection Team of the Year. The award was given to Senior Warden Mark Schichtle and his black lab Magooch, by the Vermont Criminal Justice Canine Committee.
Schichtle and Magooch were recognized for their numerous contributions to important law enforcement cases. These include several instances in which the duo located shell casings from bullets used in wildlife poaching crimes that led to arrest and conviction.
