New Products Expand Beyond their Award-Winning Wines
Vermont Business Magazine Boyden Valley Winery, nestled in the bucolic town of Cambridge is celebrating 20 years in business. As fourth generation Vermonters, the Boyden family has been a pioneer of innovative wine-making techniques and one-of-a-kind wine and spirits since planting their first grapes in 1996. David Boyden and his wife Linda were some of the first entrepreneurs to grow their own winter-hardy grapes in Vermont. From these grapes, they launched two ice wines and an ice cider, including the first red ice wine in the nation.
For their award-winning fruit wines, they developed a technique to ferment fruit with the skins on - never using a concentrate. This helps their locally-sourced fruit flavors shine through. These innovative production techniques have helped the Boydens produce and distribute the majority of their more than a dozen wines, spirits, and most recently, their line of artisan hard ciders.
Boyden Valley Winery continues to push the envelope. They are the only distillery in the nation to produce their most popular product, Vermont Ice Maple Cream Liqueur. The product is a blend of their own maple syrup, Vermont brandy, and cream. It’s distributed, along with other Boyden Valley Winery products, across 13 states with more on the way.
The Boydens said they are excited about the next 20 years.
“We’ve come a long way since we first started. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our local community and the thousands of tourists who visit Vermont every year. Linda and I can’t wait to release several new products later this year. You’ll have to come to the winery to find out what they are!” says David Boyden.
Boyden Valley Winery, one of Vermont’s first wineries, has been producing wine, cider, spirits, and even maple syrup, since 1997. With tasting rooms in Cambridge and Waterbury Center (at Cold Hollow Cider Mill).
