Carol Lighthall to lead Community Capital of Vermont

Vermont Business Magazine Community Capital of Vermont (CCVT), a statewide, nonprofit community-based lending organization that provides loans to underserved businesspeople and new entrepreneurs, has named Carol Lighthall as its incoming executive director. Karen Winchell, President of the CCVT Board of Directors, said that Lighthall was selected for her focus on entrepreneurs and their needs, ability to interpret and share information, leadership skills, and her personable, inclusive, and articulate nature.

“Thanks to the great work of our staff, CCVT has gained tremendous momentum,” noted Winchell. “Under Carol’s talented leadership, we look forward to continuing to increase our loan volume.” CCVT has grown dramatically in the last several years, earning the distinction of New England’s highest volume Small Business Administration microlender. Lighthall takes the reins in time to implement CCVT’s recently developed strategic plan.

Lighthall said, “I’m looking forward to becoming an integral part of CCVT’s bright future, as we continue to leverage our growing capacity to create and retain jobs, build wealth, and attract new investment in Vermont’s downtowns and working lands.”

Lighthall, a former CCVT board member who grew up in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, comes to CCVT from Springfield on the Move where she spearheaded downtown development for seven years. She replaces former CCVT Executive Director Martin Hahn, who left the position this summer to direct housing programs for the Vermont Housing Conservation Board.

CCVT, based in Barre, makes loans that range from $1,000 to $100,000 and may be used to start or grow a business.
