Milne to formally launch campaign Saturday in Washington ... Vermont

Vermont Business Magazine US Senate Candidate Scott Milne today announced that his campaign’s kick-off will be in Washington, VT, on Saturday, September 10, at 10 am. The public is invited to the event, which the campaign has labeled Bringing Washington, Vermont values to Washington, DC. Milne grew up in Washington, VT, and graduated from the Washington Village School.

“One of the biggest problems in America today is career politicians in Washington, DC,” said Milne. “I am inspired by my hometown’s namesake, George Washington, who led by example when he turned the Revolutionary Army over to the people’s Congress after we won Independence. He led by example again when he stepped down after two terms as president.

“By contrast, my opponent clings to every shred of power he has amassed over the last 42-years in Washington, D.C., and has made that incumbency the central tenant of his case for re-election.

“The second big problem in Washington, DC, are special interests and their big money fueled campaigns that prop up these career politicians. Special interests and big money have brought us the rigged political system, rigged economy, and dysfunctional government that plague us and have the potential to ruin our country.

“Unlike my opponent, who has already spent over $3 million on this protracted re-election bid, I believe that democracy is served by short and efficient campaigns that are not fueled by big money,” Milne continued.

“My opponent has been in office for 42 years. He has been collecting money from rich and powerful special interests for his entire career, including over $3 million from special interests in just this election cycle. He doesn’t only collect that money—he trades it for favors.

“I believe Vermont can lead America in the important work of changing the corrupt system of big money that props up professional career politicians like Patrick Leahy. Vermont can lead America by voting for change,” Milne concluded.

Milne’s launch will be at the Town Hall and Clerk’s office, 2895 VT Route 110, Washington, VT, 05675, at 10 a.m. All ages and political persuasions are invited. Milne’s campaign launch will offer the opportunity to support the Children’s book fund at the town Library—named for his brother, Keith, who died in 1971.
