Vermont Business Magazine Agin Industries, d/b/a Amramp of Vermont and Western Massachusetts, a franchise based in Newfane, has been sold to Brian and Leanne Jewett of Ludlow. Amramp is the leading manufacturer of custom quality wheelchair ramps in the country. Headquartered along with its manufacturing plant in Boston, MA, ramps are sold, rented and installed through a national network of franchisees. Ramps are designed to meet the needs of each residential or commercial client. This Amramp franchise services all of Vermont as well as the four counties of Western Massachusetts.
The buyers, Brian and Leanne Jewett, are experienced business owners. They operated PostTel Business Center, a successful mail and parcel center in Santa Monica, CA. for 15 years. Currently Leanne Jewett owns and operates Blue Ladder, an editing and publishing services business where she is managing editor of two magazines, edits books, and assists people with self-publishing. Brian Jewett has extensive experience in mobility products. He worked for Ricon Corporation for 10 years as a machinist, toolmaker, customer service rep, and product designer. He designed the company’s Uni-Lite vehicular wheelchair lift.
This regional franchise was owned by Stephen Agin, a former industrial arts teacher, who purchased the business in 2014.
“This has been a gratifying business as it enhances lives by broadening peoples’ ability to enjoy a fuller life. However, my intention in moving north was to retire and build a home. It is time to commence on that project.”
“We’re very excited to have found this business,” said Brian Jewett. “Amramp provides a high-quality product that is well suited for homes as well as commercial uses. We spent a week in Boston at the company’s plant training for this transition. We were impressed by the quality and appearance of the ramps, as well as the dedication of management and personnel to provide the best product available in its field.”
Its products and services can be viewed on the Amramp website:www.amramp.com. Ramps can often be installed within 24 hours if needed, and normally within a few days.
The sale of the business was managed by Philip Steckler of Country Business, Inc. Steckler is a principal of the firm, works out of the company’s Brattleboro, VT office. www.countrybusiness.net
