Vermont Business Magazine Condé Nast Traveler announced the results of its 29th annual Readers’ Choice Awards with the Woodstock Inn & Resort recognized as one of the “Top Resorts in New England,” ranking 14 in the category overall, and second among resorts in Vermont, with a score of 93.41.
“The Woodstock Inn & Resort’s recognition from Condé Nast Traveler readers is especially meaningful because it’s based entirely on the opinions of our guests,” said Gary S. Thulander, president and general manager. “Over the course of its 200-plus year history, dating back to 1793 as Richardson’s Tavern to its current form as a luxury resort as envisioned by Laurance and Mary Rockefeller, the Woodstock Inn & Resort has committed to a continual evolution that strives to meet the growing needs of the Woodstock guests and community. We are grateful to our staff for continuing this mission and for providing authentic and satisfying experiences to our visitors.”
More than 300,000 dedicated readers – nearly twice as many as last year -- cast votes for 7,394 hotels, 606 cities, 500 cruise ships, and 236 islands, in an average survey time of 8.4 minutes. The result? The 1,402 best travel experiences in the world.
Located in Woodstock, VT, one of the prettiest small towns in America, the Woodstock Inn & Resort provides guests front-door access to the intimate community brimming with New England charm. The Inn delivers a true sense of place that complements the resort’s growing outdoor leisure pursuits and fine dining to provide well-rounded, four-season experiences for visitors. New England Falconry at Woodstock Inn & Resort grants guests front-row access to fascinating birds of prey while The Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Program showcases central Vermont’s picturesque streams and lakes.
Resort amenities also include the 10,000 square-foot LEED-designed spa offering a nature-inspired ambiance for nourishing treatments with organic products and the Woodstock Country Club, a classic 18-hole Robert Trent Jones, Sr. golf course, the oldest course in Vermont. The Woodstock Athletic Club is a complete facility with indoor and outdoor tennis courts, racquetball courts, a 30-by-60 foot indoor lap pool, a whirlpool, workout equipment and steam and sauna rooms. Culinary offerings include The Red Rooster for fine dining with an emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients, and Richardson’s Tavern for a cozy, old-world atmosphere.
The resort’s mountain, Suicide Six, is one of Vermont's leading family-friendly ski resorts featuring more than 100 acres of skiing on 24 trails and slopes with terrain suitable for all abilities. The Tubbs Snowshoes & Nordic Adventure Center offers 30 kilometers of trails surrounding the village of Woodstock for guests to explore on snowshoes, Nordic skis or fat tire bikes.
The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.” Under Editor in Chief Pilar Guzmán, the Readers’ Choice Awards have become more selective and specific to the passions that inspire today’s travelers.
