UVM Medical Center food service director wins highest industry honor

Vermont Business Magazine Diane Imrie, the University of Vermont Medical Center’s director of Nutrition Services, has received a prestigious “Silver Plate Award” from the International Foodservice Manufacturing Association (IFMA). The award, commonly referred to as the “Oscars” of the food service industry, recognizes Imrie’s leadership in developing a model program to deliver high-quality, healthy and sustainably-produced food to the hospital’s patients and visitors.

Imrie’s award is in the “top operator in health care” category.  There are Silver Plate winners in nine other categories spanning commercial and non-commercial channels.  Silver Plate award winners are finalists for the “Gold Plate Award” - the equivalent of food service operator of the year - which will be awarded at the National Restaurant Association’s annual convention in May.

"I'm very proud to accept this national recognition which is really a testament to the wonderful team of dedicated professionals we have at the UVM Medical Center," said Imrie.  "They work tirelessly to provide the healthiest food possible to our patients and visitors, and are passionate about our mission to serve sustainably- produced products and support the local food economy.  I'm privileged to work with them every day."

The winners are nominated by IFMA members and industry leaders. National trade press editors, foodservice experts and past award winners make up the distinguished jury that selects the award honorees.
