Vermont Family Network awarded $25,000 by Turrell Fund to support New American families of children with disabilities

Vermont Business Magazine Vermont Family Network (VFN) has been awarded the $25,000 S. Whitney Landon Award by the Turrell Fund in recognition of the non-profit organization’s work with New American families with very young children who have special needs.  The Turrell Fund’s mission is to foster the creation and delivery of high quality, developmental and educational services to at-risk children, especially the youngest and their families, and the S. Whitney Landon Award specifically targets from birth through third grade.

Pam McCarthy, President and CEO of VFN, said “We are humbled by the Fund’s recognition of this important work with refugee and immigrant families and their children. The Landon Award will make a clear impact, allowing us to continue expanded support to diverse families, translating materials that families have requested to better understand options for their children with special health and special education needs, and providing support for families to attend trainings and other learning opportunities that will make them stronger, better-informed partners in their children’s growth, care, and education.”

Vermont Family Network’s mission is to empower and support all Vermont families of children with special needs so that all Vermont families help their children reach their potential. VFN serves over 1000 families a year, including over 100 New American families.
