Vermont Business Magazine Ice cream moguls Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, founders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc, issued a statement today supporting Democrat Matt Dunne in the race for governor of Vermont.
Statement of Ben Cohen, left, and Jerry Greenfield:
We’re Ben and Jerry. You know us as the ice cream guys. But in addition to being passionate about delicious ice cream, we’re also passionate about our home state of Vermont.
This year, Vermonters will have to make some tough decisions – in the August 9th primary and in the general election. Because who we elect as our next governor will determine the direction of our state.
So, we thought long and hard about the race for governor. There are a lot of good people running.
But in the end, for us, there were three deciding factors:
Which candidate showed strong and early support for Bernie Sanders?
Which candidate received the endorsement of Rights & Democracy – the leading statewide organization for progressive change?
And which candidate has the strongest position on getting big money out of politics?
The answer, hands-down, is Matt Dunne.
