Vermont Business Magazine The Williston RehabGYM plans to relocate, expanding its services of physical rehabilitation, health memberships and performance enhancement. The new entity, called Kismet, will unite the RehabGYM’s services with integrative nutrition and psychotherapy to offer more comprehensive holistic care and health coaching. Owner Sharon Gutwin said the essential intent of services at Kismet is to keep people healthy and out of sick care.

Kismet—an innovative model of health care—will be unmatched in providing solutions to health care’s serious challenges. Chronic diseases are the most common, costly, and preventable of all health problems in the United States. Over half of all adults have at least one chronic disease. Arthritis is the most common cause of disability. Falls are the number one cause of injury, hospital visits due to trauma, and death from an injury among people age 65 and older. Three quarters of the $2.2 trillion the United States spends on healthcare goes toward treating chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease. Effective treatment in prevention is the holy grail of healthcare reform and Kismet is designed to deliver.

The RehabGYM will share space with Kids’ RehabGYM, a healthy eatery with attached teaching kitchen, a doctor’s office and a business yet to be announced. Kismet will be the only one of its kind on the frontier of health care reform. It will be a valued resource to Chittenden County primary care providers in their treatment of chronic conditions and injury prevention.
