ShamRockin’ for a Cure VT raises $35,000 for the Party with a Purpose Legacy for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Vermont Business Magazine August of last year,  Jon and Pam Baker of Roswell, GA celebrated a moment they were not sure would ever come. Their sons, Gavin and Jake Baker took their first dose of Orkambi, a drug recently approved by the FDA to help control their cystic fibrosis. At this “First Dose Party,” the Bakers were surrounded by hundreds of family and friends that helped make this special drug possible.

On Saturday, March 19, their army of dedicated supporters from Vermont teamed up with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) for the 2nd Annual ShamRockin’ for a Cure VT event at The Abbey Restaurant in Sheldon, VT. The evening helped them surpass their goal of $30,000 in their fundraising efforts to fight CF. ShamRockin’ for a Cure VT is a premier party with a purpose that boasts food, live music, a dance floor, an incredible silent auction and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities up for grabs in the live auction.

The brainchild of close family friends of the Bakers, ShamRockin’ for a Cure Atlanta began as a close-knit, grassroots fundraising event that brought friends together to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day to “eat, drink, and help cure cystic fibrosis.” In its first year, the party of 150 guests raised just over $8,500 for CFF. Last year, ShamRockin’ for a Cure VT brought the movers and shakers of Franklin County Vermont to the table and sold out The Abbey Restaurant with more than 200+ guests, corporate sponsors and raised over $25,000. With many sponsors returning once again for the party, they reached new heights and have passed their fundraising goal and raised $35,000 this year alone.
