Matt Dunne outlines his approach to restore trust in state government

Vermont Business Magazine Matt Dunne, Democratic candidate for governor, today was joined by supporters, volunteers and his campaign team as he outlined his vision for rebuilding trust and bringing a fresh approach to state government -- the very issues he’s been campaigning on over the last year. As Matt tours the state and talks to everyday Vermonters, he’s heard that voters are hungry for a change, and have lost trust in government’s ability to deliver on its promises. Matt has outlined a detailed plan to address the challenges facing our state, and will always speak up for what he believes is right.

“I hear loud and clear that Vermonters don’t feel that they are being listened to, that their ideas are not being acknowledged and their concerns about what is going on in Montpelier are being ignored,” said Matt Dunne, Democratic candidate for governor. “If we are going to make Bernie Sanders’ vision a reality here in Vermont, it’s going to take a governor who may not always tell you what you want to hear - but who is always going to listen.”

“Matt has been speaking truth to power throughout his campaign, making transparency, ethics and campaign finance reform a central focus from the earliest days,” said Nick Charyk, Campaign Manager. “He’s not afraid to ruffle feathers in Montpelier with his pushback on Act 46 or his stance on wind siting. His bold plan for change might be a threat to the establishment, but Matt will never back down in his fight to give all Vermonters a voice.”

“As a woman, and a young Vermonter, I trust Matt to lay the groundwork for Vermont to continue its legacy as a progressive champion and leader for the county and the world,” said Nora Foote. “I want to start and raise a family in a place like Vermont where I can trust my leaders to deliver on issues of social and environmental justice. Matt Dunne is the only candidate - Democrat or Republican - that has the experience to make Bernie's progressive vision a reality here in Vermont.”

“As we have traveled around Vermont, we've heard from so many people who feel like no one's listening to them, who feel like, whatever the issue, their leaders aren't even willing to have the conversation with them,” said Sarah Stewart Taylor. “I'm here to tell you that Matt will listen to Vermonters and that he'll have the conversation with you. It's the way he was raised and it's the kind of governor he'll be.”

Matt is spending the homestretch of his primary campaign visiting firehouses, senior centers and meeting with Vermonters from Burlington to Brattleboro to St. Johnsbury. Yesterday and today, Matt has been touring firehouses across the state and working to get out the vote with members of the Professional Firefighters of Vermont (PFFV), which endorsed his candidacy late last month. In addition to PFFV, Matt has received a series of major labor endorsements, including from the Executive Committee of the AFL-CIO, the Vermont State Employees Association (VSEA), and the Teamsters Local 597.
