Vermont Business Magazine AFT Vermont reported Friday that the members of the Vermont State Colleges Part Time Faculty Federation have overwhelmingly voted to ratify their new contract, which will be in effect until August 31, 2017. The contract includes many new gains, including 5 percent retroactive salary increases and increased compensation for graduate courses and overload work. Union negotiators also preserved other important benefits for faculty, such as 7% matching retirement contributions and tuition waivers for faculty and their dependents.
"While we can and should congratulate ourselves on the wins we achieved in this new contract, we can also build upon this momentum and plan toward future successes," said part-time faculty member and VSCFF Vice President, Morna Flaum. "Our membersare identifyingpriorities for the next round of bargaining, including better language on job security and easier entry into the bargaining unit.We look forward to working with the Vermont State Colleges to implement the terms of the new agreement and reclaim the promise of quality public education in Vermont."
The VSCFF represents over 150 part-time faculty across the Vermont State Colleges.
