Adam Buckley, MD, named CIO for the UVM Health Network

Vermont Business Magazine The University of Vermont Health Network has announced the appointment of Adam Buckley, MD, to the position of chief information officer. The UVM Health Network is a four-hospital system serving the residents of Vermont and northern New York with hospital locations in Burlington and Berlin in Vermont, and in Plattsburgh and Elizabethtown in New York.

“Dr. Buckley has served in an interim CIO position for the medical center for approximately a year, and during that time he has effectively assumed leadership for a number of significant UVM Health Network-level information technology initiatives,” said John Brumsted, president and CEO of the UVM Health Network and CEO, UVM Medical Center. “My working experience with Adam and witnessing the results he has achieved makes me feel quite confident in his selection as the network CIO.”

Buckley received a medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Northwestern University Medical Center and holds a Board Certification from the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Buckley expects to earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts in December 2015.

Prior to joining the Medical Center in 2012 as the chief medical information officer, Buckley served as a member of the faculty at Beth Israel Medical Center where he held the positions of associate chairman for Quality and Patient Safety, and associate director for their Residency Program. Prior to that, he served as a faculty member at Stony Brook Medical Center and held the positions of medical director, Labor and Delivery and assistant director, Residency Program.
