Vermont Business Magazine Lyndon State College President Joe Bertolino has been appointed to the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Board of Directors for a three-year term. The appointment took place at the association’s annual meeting on October 27, 2015. The AASCU is a Washington, D.C.-based higher education association of more than 400 public colleges, universities, and systems whose members share a learning- and teaching-centered culture, a historic commitment to underserved student populations, and a dedication to research and creativity that advances their regions’ economic progress and cultural development.
“Joe Bertolino will bring a wide range of leadership experiences in higher education to his role as a member of the Board of Directors,” said AASCU President Muriel Howard. “We frequently talk about AASCU members as student focused institutions. His presidency of Lyndon State College demonstrates this commitment. President Bertolino’s experience, coupled with his dedication to our mission and values, will make him a highly effective board member.”

Bertolino recently completed his third year as the 15th President of Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont. His enthusiasm, his focus on an “ethic of care,” and his sense of humor have helped change the tone and tenor of the campus community.
In June, Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin appointed President Bertolino to the New England Board of Higher Education Board of Delegates. He also serves as a President of the Vermont Higher Education Consortium, amember of the Advisory Board of Catamount Arts, the Riverside School, the NEK Youth Services JUMP Program,and as a Corporator for the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
