The American Federation of Teachers issued a statement Monday that the Vermont State Colleges Faculty Federation late Friday afternoon reached a tentative agreement for a new full time faculty contract, following a final negotiation session at the Chancellor's office in Montpelier.
After months of negotiation, the terms of the 2014-2018 deal include:
- Compensation increases of up to 4.0%, 3.5% and 3.5% over the next three years.
- Preservation of faculty job security, intellectual property and academic freedom.
- Additional compensation for the developing and teaching of master's courses.
"We are proud of the work our members have done to win a strong contract that respects faculty and their commitment to students," said bargaining team member and outgoing VSCFF President, Linda Olson. "We look forward to working with the Vermont State Colleges to implement the terms of the agreement and reclaim the promise of quality public education in Vermont."
VSCFF members will hold a ratification vote in the fall.
