At a special meeting Wednesday evening, the Addison County Regional Planning Commission (ACRPC) voted again to support Vermont Gas’ Addison Natural Gas Project Phase 1. A statement by Vermont Gas said the 23-9 vote shows significant ongoing support for the project in Addison County. The project will bring the choice of natural gas to thousands of residents, businesses and institutions in Addison County.
“The Commission has considered this issue several times, and has again supported the project after receiving reports about last week’s Public Service Board hearings in Montpelier,” said Don Rendall, President and CEO of Vermont Gas. “The project will provide significant economic and environmental benefits to Addison County and the region. We appreciate the Commission’s attention and effort on this project over the years.”
The Commission will notify the Public Service Board that it has re-affirmed its support for the project.
Since he assumed leadership of Vermont Gas in January, Rendall has put a high priority on candor and communications in all aspects of the company.
“Maintaining open communication with stakeholders and communities in Addison County is essential,” said Rendall.
“Compared to heating oil and propane, our customers have lower heating bills and lower carbon emissions,” Rendall continued. “This is critical to many families and businesses. Further, Vermont Gas provides award winning efficiency services and new energy innovation to more Vermonters as we chart a course for a clean energy future.”
