Vermont Business Magazine Open Farm Week begins today with an intriguing mix of on-farm tastings, activities and entertainment. More than 85 farms across the state will open their gates to the public this week. All participating farms, activities, directions, and hours of operation can be found at www.DigInVt.com.
Here are some of the events happening today, August 3:
Northwest:
Trillium Hill Farm's 10th Birthday- Farm tour, farm-grown dinner and live music.
Boston Post Dairy, LLC- Taste farmstead cheese, maple, and other products, visit the animals, and take a hike on the Missisquoi Valley Trail.
Boyden Valley Winery- Tour the winemaking facility, taste wine, cider and gourmet cheeses, and enjoy the vineyards.
Foggy Brook Farm- Come see chickens, baby rabbits and enjoy brunch on the farm.
Hackett’s Orchard- Food tastings, tractor rides and picnics.
Hudak Farm- Tour a diversified vegetable farm.
Sheep and Pickle Farm - Come pet the sheep!
Northeast:
Caledonia Spirits- Taste samples and see production/bottling procedures.
Peacham Farmers’ Market- farm tours, CSA samples, and bird watching.
Sweet Seasons Farm- Work and learn on the farm, pick-your-own berries and BBQ.
West Central:
Agricola- Visit a farm committed to sustainability and Italian traditions.
Fairy Tale Farm- Meet lambs and goats, sample cheese and enjoy a picnic on the farm.
Golden Well Farm and Apiaries- Learn about the farm, PYO berries and flowers, and enjoy other fun activities.
Larson Farm- Meet the cows and learn the importance of maintaining grazing lands in Vermont.
Lincoln Peak Vineyard and Winery- Enjoy wine and cheese, tour the vineyards, and feel free to bring the kids!
East Central:
Billings Farm and Museum- Enjoy a variety of fun farm activities centered around the Jersey herd.
Burelli Farm- Tour the farm, meet the animals and purchase food from the farm store.
Fat Toad Farm- Learn all about goats and taste some goat’s milk caramel.
Four Springs Farm- Explore the farm and enjoy the beautiful location.
One Chicken at a Time Farm- Visit the goats and learn about goat’s milk products.
Peaceful Harvest Mushrooms- Learn about mushroom cultivation.
Sugarbush Farm- Sample local jams, meats, etc., hike the maple trail and learn how maple syrup is made.
Sunrise Farm CSA- Tour the farm, meet the animals, and buy some local products.
Willow Moon Farm- Meet goats, try goat’s milk cheese and tour the dairy.
Southern:
Green Mountain Orchards- PYO blueberries and lots of fun activities at the orchard!
Merck Forest and Farmland Center- Wagon rides, PYO berries, hiking, and more!
