Vermont Tech and the Community College of Vermont (CCV) have announced a new collaboration between the colleges. Effective immediately, students who have earned CCV’s STEM Studies associate degree will be able to transfer into Vermont Tech’s Renewable Energy Bachelor of Science degree program. The pathway guarantees admission for CCV graduates with a 2.0 or higher grade point average, provided they have completed a minimum of 60 pre-approved transfer credits. This collaboration allows students with an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to make a seamless transition and further their studies in the expanding renewable energy field.
“Renewable energy is a quickly growing field and career path, especially in Vermont,” said Interim President of Vermont Tech, Dan Smith. “This new collaboration allows students with a passion for STEM to continue their education and easily transition into Vermont Tech’s degree program. This partnership with CCV is an exciting step towards making sought-after degrees even more accessible for students.”
While students do routinely transfer from CCV to Vermont Tech, this new pathway agreement is the first between Vermont Tech and the STEM Studies program. Based on the courses that students choose within STEM Studies, they will be able to complete the associate degree with 60 credits and earn the Renewable Energy bachelor degree with an additional 65 credits.
“Renewable energy studies is important in a forward thinking and environmentally-conscious state like Vermont,” noted CCV President, Joyce Judy. “I am pleased that CCV and Vermont Tech have created a seamless pathway between CCV’s Stem Studies degree and Vermont Tech’s Renewable Energy program that will directly lead to high demand jobs within Vermont.”
The new pathway also allows students to take advantage of the dual enrollment option available to Vermont State Colleges (VSC) students, which lets them take courses at any VSC institution. This permits CCV STEM Studies students to begin taking Renewable Energy classes offered by Vermont Tech prior to making the transfer.
