2014 BBA annual dinner award recipients announced

TheBurlington Business Association(BBA)has selected the winners of its 2014 Annual Awards, which include David Finney of Champlain College, Burton Snowboards and Hotel Vermont.

  • TheBurlington Business Award,and
  • TheArchitectural Excellence Award, in honor of Hertzel Pasackow.

Tim Halvorson Award
The Tim Halvorson award, which began in 2009, recognizes an individual for "outstanding contribution to the economic vitality of Burlington." This year's award will be presented toDavid Finney, outgoing President ofChamplain College.Finney announced his retirement from Champlain last April and will conclude his services this coming June.Click hereto read more on Finney's legacy at Champlain College.
Burlington Business Award
TheBurlington Business Awardis in"recognition of superb business practices, contributions to the community, promotion of a positive image for Burlington, and business success".This year, the BBA is awarding the Burlington Business Award toBurton Snowboards.“Burton has held an important presence in Burlington’s south end for a long time,” BBA Executive Director Kelly Devine said. “We’re thrilled to acknowledge Burton’s significant contributions to Burlington’s thriving business community.”
Architectural Excellence Award, in honor of Hertzel Pasackow
The award recognizes "a significant contribution to the physical or architectural quality of Burlington." Established in 1986, the award is given in memory ofHertzel Pasackow, owner of the Mayfair on upper Church Street, and founding member of both theBBAand theChurch Street Marketplace Commission. This year, BBA members voted to honorHotel Vermontwith the Archirtecture Award. The entire interior design of the hotel was designed by Truexcullins Architecture + Interior Design.
