Boston Fed: Vermont's Ernie Pomerleau named 2014 chair of the New England Advisory Council

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston announced Ernest “Ernie” Pomerleau, President and CEO of Burlington’s Pomerleau Real Estate, as the 2014 Chair of the Boston Fed’s New England Advisory Council (NEAC). The NEAC is convened by Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren and includes senior leaders of small- to mid-size businesses throughout New England. Members advise the Bank about underlying trends in the economy as viewed through the prisms of their own companies and respective industries.

“I am grateful to Ernie for his commitment to public service,” said President Rosengren. “The conversations we have at the NEAC meetings are among the many ways the Boston Fed stays connected to the business community, and helps inform the perspectives that I share when I attend the Federal Open Market Committee meetings in Washington.”

A licensed real estate broker, Pomerleau leads the Commercial Development, Investment Brokerage, and Property Management divisions of Pomerleau Real Estate. He serves on the Board of Directors for Saint Michael’s College, Shelburne Farms, Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation, Cynosure, Vermont Visiting Nurses Association, and is the Government Affairs Director of Vermont (ICSC Board for New England). Pomerleau also chaired Governor Shumlin’s Panel on Climate Change.

NEAC members rotate every 2-3 years, and attend quarterly meetings at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. In spirited roundtable discussions, NEAC members share perspectives on a range of business conditions including revenue forecasts, employment practices, capital spending and access to credit, among other issues. The next meeting of the NEAC will be September 3, 2014.
