The Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC), with support from a number of planning partners and sponsors, has scheduled the first session this spring of a proven program designed to help small- and mid-sized Vermont manufacturers and other interested companies boost their sales through profitable exports.’‘
ExporTech’¢ provides companies with a systematic process for entering or expanding in global markets and connects them with the best international business experts in the region. The program assists participants in developing a peer-reviewed export growth plan, quickly moving them from planning to closing export sales. ExporTech’¢ programs have now run in more than 25 states and have generated results for over 450 businesses that include participating companies, on average, having generated $770,000 in new export sales after having completed the program.’ The program is limited to 6-8 companies at a time, with up to 4 leaders from each company attending.’ This hands-on, content-rich program involves a unique combination of innovative group sessions, held in 3 full-day training sessions over a period of approximately 3 months, plus individualized, expert coaching that takes place in between the three training sessions.
Session training dates are’March 20,’May 1 and June 5, 2014. ‘All session training times are’8:00 am - 4:00 pm’and will take place at the Workforce Training Center in Swanton, VT. The cost for each company to attend this training is $5,000 per company and each organization may bring up to 4 leaders per company.’‘ Companies may be eligible for grants through the VT Global Trade’Partnership or financial assistance through the Vermont Training Program of the Vermont Department of Economic, Housing and Community Development.
In addition to VMEC, the primary ExporTech’¢ planning Partners include’the State of Vermont's Agency of Commerce and Community Development’Vermont Global Trade Partnership,’Vermont Small Business Development Center, the State of Vermont's Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets, Vermont Economic Development Authority, U.S. Small Business Administration, NIST MEP, US Commercial Service and FedEx. The program is also supported by the State of Vermont's Department of Economic, Housing and Community Development Vermont Training Program.
