Senator Patrick Leahy named Citizen of the Year

The Vermont Chamber of Commerce has selected Senator Patrick Leahy as its 2013 Citizen of the Year. A Middlesex resident, Senator Leahy is the senior senator from Vermont and the Senate's President Pro Tempore.

Senator Leahy chairs the Judiciary Committee, the State Department's budget committee, and the State Department and Foreign Operations Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee. He is the most senior member of the Appropriations and Agriculture Committees, and of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. He is also the longtime co-chair of the Senate National Guard Caucus.
Senator Leahy was selected by the Vermont Chamber for the 50th Anniversary of the Citizen of the Year for his particular work this year, which included support for the EB-5 program and strong economic development efforts on behalf of Vermont companies during the federal sequestration.
