Public meeting of the Vermont State Nuclear Advisory Panel October 16

The Public Service Department hasannounced that the next meeting of the Vermont State Nuclear Advisory Panel (VSNAP) will be held on October 16 from 6 pm to 9 pm in the multi-purpose room at Brattleboro Union High School, 131 Fairground Road in Brattleboro. The agenda for the October 16 meeting includes discussion topics related to the announcement by Entergy/VY of its intention to close the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station at the end of 2014, including a presentation on license termination issues as well as discussion of impacts on staff operations, emergency planning and environmental surveillance, and state oversight during the decommissioning process. Members of the public are welcome.
The Vermont State Nuclear Advisory Panel (VSNAP) is governed by 18 V.S.A. Chapter 34. The Commissioner of the Public Service Department chairs the panel, which meets periodically to consider issues relating to the present and future use of nuclear power in general, and of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station in particular.
