Brooks House team wins Brattleboro Chamber award

The Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce named the Brooks House Development team as the 2012 Corporate Citizen of the Year on Friday, November 1 at the annual Chamber gala.
Craig Miskovich, Drew Richards, Pete Richards, Bob Stevens and Ben Taggard were recognized for the work they have done to redevelop the Brooks House following the April 2011 fire that devastated the historic Main Street building.

Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce Board President Stephanie Huestis said the group was chosen this year for taking on the "Herculean task of raising the money," to rebuild the Brooks House after the former owner announced he would not be able to finance the project.
"Just seeing all that activity behind that scaffolding is just what we needed," Huestis said. "One of the dictionary definitions of corporate is ‘pertaining to a united group,' and another is ‘united or combined into one.' I know you'll agree that this was a team effort and we couldn't have asked for a better team."
The Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce named its first Corporate Citizen of the Year in 1993 to recognize businesses and organizations that make outstanding contributions to the town.
C&S was the first recipient and in 2011 the town of Brattleboro was awarded the honor for all town staff did to help the town through Tropical Storm Irene and the Brooks House fire.
