Ride Safe Vermont (RSV), reminds drivers and riders across Vermont that May is Motorcycle Awareness Month. As the weather improves, the road become clear and dry, more motorcycle and scooters are appearing on Vermonts streets and highways.
There are over 28,000 registered motorcycles alone in the state of Vermont, said Bill Bill Mitchell, Owner of Ride Safe Vermont and a Motorcycle Safety Foundation-certified Rider Coach. Its the responsibility of both car drivers and motorcycle riders to be aware of their surroundings at all times when operating a motorized vehicle no matter whether it has four wheels or two.
In honor of Motorcycle Awareness Month, RSV offers these top three tips for car drivers:
â ¢ Be aware of your blind spots, always check twice;
â ¢ Pay particular attention for motorcycles and scooters in intersections; and
â ¢ Dont drive distracted.
RSV also recommends these top three tips for motorcycle riders:
â ¢ Wear all the safety gear all the time, in particular make sure your helmet fits properly;
â ¢ Get trained and keep your riding skills honed; and
â ¢ Dont ride impaired.
