Marathon Health, Inc. of Winooski, Vermont announced that it will provide its MedicalHome@Work onsite healthcare model to Bendix Commercial Vehicle System LLC employees, spouses and children. The partnership brings Marathon Health into Indiana for the first time.
Marathon Health will provide onsite total population health management, including primary care, health assessments, health coaching, and disease management. The onsite health center will be located within Plant 1 of the Bendix manufacturing complex in the Huntington community.
Bendix began working with Marathon Health as part of its ongoing journey to foster a culture of health and wellness. The Huntington health center is just one of the newest aspects of the company's always expanding overall effort to promote health and wellness, provide easy and convenient care, focus on smart and efficient healthcare initiatives, and help manage healthcare costs.
The Marathon Health total population health management approach moves away from 'sick care' toward a solution focused on the whole person, not just their symptoms. It is Marathon Health's experience that people gain a new perspective when they understand the choices that impact their health -- one that isn't about being treated when sick, but rather about achieving their best possible health.
"Through our robust 'Bendix Be Healthy' initiative, our employees and family members in Huntington have embraced the goal to live a healthier life each and every day," said Diane Shields, Vice President - HR and Organizational Development at Bendix. "One of the key components, in addition to being physically active and focused on good nutrition, is prevention and early detection through enhanced medical care and proactive education. The onsite health center, powered by Marathon Health, will help increase the opportunity to reach and maintain optimal health."
Marathon Health Vice President Eric Schrumpf said Bendix has visionary leadership, as evidenced by programs such as the comprehensive Bendix Be Healthy initiative, which helps employees and families live and perform at the top of their game at work, at home, and into retirement. Marathon Health clinicians will help Bendix toward its greater goal of helping people lead happier, more productive lives.
"Bendix displays the best elements of a forward-thinking business that looks out for its employees," Schrumpf said. "We are excited to begin working with them and expanding our services into Indiana."
Operating in Huntington for more than 30 years, Bendix, the North American leader in the development and manufacture of leading-edge active safety and braking system technologies, employs more than 400 Indiana residents and is one of Huntington County's largest employers. The Huntington site began its first remanufacturing operation in 1980 and now includes four facilities, including manufacturing, remanufacturing, and assembly sites, as well as the primary North American distribution center for the company.
Bendix employs more than 2,700 people at its primary facilities in Huntington; Elyria, Ohio; Bowling Green, Ky.; and Acuña, Mexico.
