FairPoint expands broadband to Bethel, Fairlee, Strafford, Thetford, Vershire

FairPoint Communications, Inc. (NasdaqCM: FRP), a leading provider of advanced communications in northern New England, has expanded broadband to more than 500 homes and businesses in the Upper Valley towns of Bethel, Fairlee, Strafford, Thetford, and Vershire.
This is the first wave of broadband expansion projects that will bring high-speed Internet to the Upper Valley for the first time.
FairPoint’s new fiber-based, high-capacity network offers customers a better, faster way to communicate.
‘Our next-generation network allows us to expand broadband service into areas with no high-speed Internet access and provide enhanced services across the state,’said Michael K. Smith, FairPoint state president for Vermont. ‘Broadband availability opens the doors to the world for the residents and businesses in Vermont and is fundamental to the state’s future economic growth.’
FairPoint provides residential speed options up to 15Mbps. Broadband service on the next-generation network means customers can smoothly stream live video, play online games and upload photos and large files with ease. Reliable broadband access provides almost instant connections to information, news and entertainment.
In Bethel, FairPoint’s broadband Internet service will reach customers along all or portions of the following streets: Arnold, Birch Hill, Brink Hill, Bundy, Camp Brook, Chase, Christian Hill, Comstock, Dartt Hill, Dearing, Dunham, Mears, Olmstead, Oxbow, Paul’s Peak, Perham, Pond, Quarry, Sanders, Sargents, Stefansson, Sunrise and Wilson Hill.
In Fairlee and Thetford, FairPoint’s broadband Internet service will reach customers along all or portions of the following streets: Bragg, Five Corners, Potato Hill, Quinibeck, Robinson Hill, Turnpike and Ware.
In Strafford and Vershire, FairPoint’s broadband Internet service will reach customers along all or portions of the following streets: Ayers, Chamberlain Hill, Eagle Hollow, Kingdom, Maple Hill, Middlebrook, Miller Pond, Parker, Parshley, Powell, Race, Ricker Bridge, Sawnee Bean, Thoreau Loop, Thoreau Way, Tognacci, Twistback, Vermont Route 113, Ward and Willey.
FairPoint has invested nearly $100 million in its network in the Green Mountain State and has added 1,100 miles of new fiber, providing high-speed access to 90 percent of its Vermont service areas.
