Washington Electric Co-op outage update

Washington Electric Co-op is continuing to make progress restoring power at locations throughout our system as a result of the thunderstorms which moved through our area Sunday afternoon. At this time there are over 600 Co-op members without power Areas with significant numbers out include Danville/Peacham, Tunbridge, Marshfield/Calais, East Montpelier, and Williamstown.
WEC has experienced a number of broken poles and a significant amount of downed power line, making for more difficult repair. In some instances, a main line (feeder) is repaired, but further problems are then discovered on smaller tap lines extending from the main line.
WEC crews have been out restoring power, assisted by our contract tree trimming crews. WEC is receiving additional assistance from crews sent by Morrisville Electric Department and Hardwick Electric Department.
At this point, WEC is estimating that we will have power restored to many of these members this afternoon, and that power will have been restored to most members by sometime Monday evening. As many of the remaining outages require very difficult and time-consuming repairs, it is possible that a small number of Co-op members will remain without power until Tuesday.
