JobsInVT.com gives $1,000 to two more Vermont nonprofits

Bob Hooker didn't have to ponder too long about who would receive a $500 donation in the JobsInVT.com Live Work Give contest, a contest that awards a local nonprofit $500 in a Vermont resident's name. His entry was randomly selected and he directed the donation to Vermont Folklife Center, his employer.
"For us, "folklife" encompasses the exploration and documentation of traditional culture in Vermont - in the past and present," said Ned Castle of Vermont Folklife Center. "Our programs target a diverse array of Vermonters from traditional fiddlers to New American weavers."
Margaret York chose a nonprofit that recently touched someone she knew. York selected AWARE, which serves over 240 direct victims of domestic and sexual violence each year and the nearly 200 children of those victims. They also provide the community with education and prevention classes, trainings and events.
"I have a dear friend who needed to make use of AWARE's services, and I was extremely impressed with the work they do and their dedication, compassion, and integrity. I'm glad to have this opportunity to support their important work," said York.
"At AWARE we believe (the victims) and validate their fears and concerns," said Executive Director Anna Pirie. "We tell them the truth about how the judicial system works and give them information to help them in maneuvering the court system and utilizing their legal rights to obtain custody of their children and to receive financial support."
The Contest
As a way to say "thank you" all year for using JobsInVT.com over the past 10 years, our Live Work Give celebration contest picks a job seeker and an employer winner quarterly, who each choose a Vermont nonprofit to receive the donations.
JobsInVT.com will randomly select one Vermont job seeker entry and one Vermont employer entry per quarter and ask each winner to choose a registered Vermont 501(c)(3) organization for us to donate $500 on their behalf.
If you haven't entered yet, enter to win! If you've already entered the contest, you can relax; you're still in the running to be selected for future quarterly drawings. Stay tuned for our August 13 e-newsletters, which will feature Vermont Folklife Center and AWARE.
