by Alicia Freese July 22, 2013 vtdigger.org Forty days after being fired, the executive director of the Vermont State Employees Association (VSEA), the state’s second largest union, has formally won his job back.
The VSEA Board of Trustees voted Monday to permanently reinstate Mark Mitchell after reviewing the contents of a month-long investigation into allegations of wrongdoing.
Mitchell was fired June 12; shortly thereafter, he was reinstated and put on paid administrative leave, after questions were raised about the substance of the allegations and the abruptness of Board’s decision to let him go.
Steve Howard, the legislative director for VSEA, confirmed the board’s decision Monday but declined to comment further.
