Ocean State Job Lot to deliver 40,000 pounds of food to Vermont Foodbank Tuesday

A convoy of 10 tractor trailer trucks loaded with 400,000 pounds of nutritious, shelf-stable food (the equivalent of 333,330 meals) will depart the Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) warehouse to deliver to 10 Food Banks in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and New York. This is the first installment of a 60-tractor trailer truckload donation totaling $1.25 million for 2013 will mark the largest single food donation of its kind by a private company in New England. The Vermont Foodbank is among those each receiving a delivery of 40,000 pounds of food. The Vermont delivery is expected to reach the Vermont Foodbank about 2 pm at its 33 Parker Road, Barree, location.
This food distribution is part of Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundations Three Square Meals Community Meal Assistance Program.
Funds for Job Lot to purchase the food direct from brand-name manufacturers were donated at the register by OSJL customers in seven states over the 2012 Thanksgiving and Christmas season and matched by Job Lot. Attending the delivery are the following: Edward Fox, Chief Operations Officer and Judy Stermer, Director of Communications, as well as the Job Lot Regional Manager for Vermont.
