Vermont Chamber to provide manufacturing opportunities in medical & aerospace industries

On Thursday, February 28, the Vermont Chamber's manufacturing division, known as the Vermont Aerospace and Aviation Association (VAAA), will host a networking event at MMICin St. Johnsbury: "Supply Chain Opportunities in Medical & Aerospace: Transforming Aerospace and The Flying Eye Hospital with MMIC and Medical Mobility."

The global medical device market will be worth $397.1 billion by 2016, according to Visiongain,, a market research firm. The VAAA networking event will showcase this market opportunity for Vermont Chamber members-- including Vermont's emerging ISO 13485 medical device manufacturing cluster-- and highlight MMIC's strategic role in building the hospital modules for the new Flying Eye Hospital for ORBIS International.
"Our Vermont Chamber membership has been a significant asset to our sales efforts," said Tom Bronson, General Manager at North Country Engineering. "By attending VAAA events and working with manufacturers through the Vermont Chamber, we have met purchasing agents who have the authority to let us into their supply chain, and have received both direct contracts and 'overflow' contracts assisting another supplier."
Speakers include representatives from major out-of-state companies like ORBIS International, Intertek, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and Raytheon.
Host MMIC is the premier sponsor of the event. Additional underwriters include Intertek, The Vermont Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Vermont Agency of Transportation Aviation Program, Norwich University, Windstream, and Vermont Business Magazine.
