Annual VSO radio auction raises $18,000 for orchestra outreach programs

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra’ s 16 annual Radio Auction broadcast live over the stations of the Radio Vermont Group on April 9 raised $18,153. Over the lifetime of the event, presented by the Central Vermont Friends of the VSO, the Radio Auction has raised $260,001. All proceeds from the auction support the Orchestra’ s statewide musical and educational programs throughout the state.
‘ The VSO is so grateful to Radio Vermont Group for their 16 years of generous support,’ said VSO Executive Director Alan Jordan. ‘ Together we have raised over a quarter million dollars for the VSO and its musical programs and outreach across Vermont. The VSO Central Vermont Board deserves huge kudos for securing the many items and working the evening. There isn't a more fun way to raise $18,000 in one day!’
The Radio Auction included 88 items donated by individuals and businesses from across Central Vermont and the Champlain Valley, and beyond. Block sponsors were Sullivan, Powers & Co; Northfield Savings Bank; Waitsfield & Champlain Valley Telecom; Waterbury & Montpelier Pharmacy; Dubois Construction; and Jamieson Insurance. Media support was provided by the Rutland Herald, Barre Times-Argus, The World, Waterbury Record, Stowe Reporter, Valley Reporter, The Transcript, and News-Citizen. The interactive on-air event was broadcast on WCVT 101.7 FM broadcasting at
50,000 watts from the top of Mount Mansfield, and in Montpelier 102.5 FM; WDEV 550 AM and 96.1 FM Waterbury, 96.5 FM in Barre, 101.9 FM in The Northeast Kingdom; WLVB 93.9 FM in Morrisville; and new this year, on Radio Vermont’ s newest station, Fox 101.5 FM in Rutland.
