The Vermont Vehicle and Automotive Distributors Association (VADA) has selected Vermont Tech to receive a $1,500 Ambassador Scholarship. Established by the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), the Ambassadors Program provides financial support to educational institutions in the public or private sector and emergency medical organizations. The Ambassadors Program has distributed more than $1 million in scholarships since its founding in 1993.
‘This grant has been a great blessing and a very pleasant surprise for our program,’said Professor Robert Palmer, who serves as Program Director for Automotive Technology at Vermont Tech. ‘We have just made a major facility change to a much larger space. This support of our student-centered program comes at a perfect moment.’
The Automotive Technology at Vermont Tech provides students with extensive knowledge of basic mechanical systems as well as more sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and computer systems used in modern automobiles. Students acquire the knowledge and technical skills required by employers such as automotive manufacturers, dealerships, independent repair facilities, equipment manufacturers, and parts suppliers and distributors. On average, 98 percent of graduates find employment in the field or continue their education within six months of completing the program.
