Larry Sudbay, President and Chief Executive Officer of SymQuest® Group, the areaâ s leading provider of network and document technology solutions and services, is pleased to announce today that the Company has acquired the business operations of Downeast Networks, Inc. located in Auburn, Maine. SymQuest currently provides document solutions from their Westbrook, Maine office. The acquisition of Downeast Networks means SymQuest will provide both network and document solutions throughout Maine, just as it already does in Vermont, New York and New Hampshire.
Designing, installing and supporting business technologies that handle the information flow of electronic and physical communications, SymQuest is headquartered in South Burlington, Vermont and has offices in Plattsburgh, New York; Rutland, Vermont; Keene and West Lebanon, New Hampshire and now Auburn as well as Westbrook, Maine.
SymQuest continues its history of growth having recently expanded the South Burlington Network Operations Center and doubled the office space in Rutland, Vermont. In 2008 the Company purchased UBIQ Imaging Solutions in Westbrook, ME. In 2006 the Company expanded into the Plattsburgh, NY region and in 2004 purchased IniNet, Inc. in Keene, New Hampshire.
â We are pleased to join forces with the Downeast Networks staff who share our standards of delivering service above client expectations and ensuring that clients are ahead of the curve in the fast-paced world of technology. In order to continue to provide our clients with the best resources, we must constantly evolve and geographical growth is a natural part of that equation,’says Sudbay.
Sudbay founded SymQuest with Pat Robins in 1996â a $10 million business at that time. SymQuest furthered its expansion with the acquisition of IniNet, Inc. in 2004 and gained a well-developed presence in New Hampshire, Southern Vermont and Massachusetts.
In 2006 SymQuest opened their Plattsburgh office. The branch has experienced success in the region and continues to grow, establishing a solid presence for the company in the Northern New York market.
The next acquisition took place in early 2008 when SymQuest purchased UBIQ and gained a stronghold in Maine. With the purchase of Downeast Networks, SymQuest is pleased to bring Maine businesses their full compliment of services first with Document Solutions and now Network Services.
Downeast Networks was founded by Michael Pratt with the vision of providing small- to mid-size companies the type of technical services usually reserved for large companies. They felt that Maine businesses needed a strong, local technology firm that had the capability to provide these services.
Michael Pratt is joined by existing employees Jody Shimamura, Account Executive; Derek New, Senior Project Engineer; Frank Farrell, Network Support Engineer; Justin Tharpe, Network Support Engineer; Tommy Venenga, Network Support Engineer; and Michele Herman, Sales Administrator who will remain on staff.
â We are thrilled about working together. SymQuest brings vast resources and benefits to Downeast Networks and its clients, such as: IT expertise, a Network Operations Center and 24/7 remote monitoring capabilities.
â Downeast was founded in 2006, and has experienced significant growth during the past six years. We have 7 employees, so increasing to 170 virtually overnight is a positive development for both our internal operations and the clients we serve.
â What Larry and his team have built at SymQuest is more than impressive. I immediately realized that my vision for the future is precisely what SymQuest is today, and that we are moving in the same direction,’said Pratt.
â We have been searching for just the right company to launch our networking capabilities in Maine. Downeast Networks shares our philosophy, our drive to be the best in our field and our understanding of what the market needsâ not just todayâ but tomorrow,’said Sudbay. â Gaining employees with the high caliber of knowledge that these folks have is a real boon for our Company,’he continued.
Today, SymQuest is a $37 million dollar company and was recently named a top-20 managed services provider globally by MSP Mentor. The company expects to continue to grow both organically and by acquisition and anticipates hiring 80 more employees throughout their footprint by the year 2016.
