Fletcher Allenâ s commitment to become one of the greenest health care organizations in the country was recognized this week with an award from the nation's leading association devoted to environmentally responsible health care.
For the fourth year in a row, Fletcher Allen was selected to be in the â EnvironmentalLeadership Circle’by
Practice Greenhealth. The Leadership Circle awards are given to institutions that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of their operations. Between 2007 and 2011, Fletcher Allen has increased its annual recycling by more than 60 percent to 1,160 tons. Electric use at the Medical Center Campus dropped2 percent in 2011.

The Leadership Circle awards are given to institutions that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of their operations, including environmentally-friendly practices and sustainability. Fletcher Allen participates in dozens of pro-environment initiatives, including seeking out environmentally-friendly products for use in maintaining and cleaning its facilities, selecting sustainable food choices and composting.
