Union Bank raises over $1,000 for local organizations

Union Bank employees hit the water last weekend for a great cause. Their contribution to this year’s Lamoille County Field Days held Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29, was a dunking booth complete with executive ‘dunkees,’serving as a fundraiser for LACiNg up for Cancer and local area food shelves. For a donation of either $1 or $5 dollars, participants had the opportunity to see if they could throw a ball, hit the bulls-eye and dunk the various Union Bank executives and staff. A few extra dollars gave a guarantee, allowing folks to walk up and hit the dunk button.
Prior to this weekend’s activities, the number of power throwers may have been a closely guarded secret, but that ended as the volunteer dunkees quickly became water-logged. Union Bank President and CEO David Silverman was among the dunkees and was the target when twin brothers got into a contest to see who could get the most hits. ‘We wanted to do something that would be entertaining for the crowd, and raise money for important programs and services in the community,’said Silverman. ‘Everyone had great fun with it and I’m glad it was so well received.’
The cooler weather meant cooler water, and the dunkees gave it their (chilly) all. Always focused on customer service, whenever a ball would hit’but not dunk’there was a Union Bank staff member there to ensure the customer walked away happy with their experience. That meant a few extra dips, which all agree were worth it.
Human Resources Officer Jeff Coslett, who coordinated the event, said the dunking booth was a first for Union Bank, adding that ‘the weekend went great, and because of all of the community members who visited us and took part, the total raised was $1,032 for LACiNg up for Cancer and area food shelves. We want to thank everyone for taking part, and we’re looking forward to making an even bigger splash next year.’
Customer service with a smile ‘after a ball hit, but did not dunk President and CEO David Silverman, Lorraine Willett, HR/Training Specialist, made sure the customer left pleased about his Union Bank experience.
