Vermont companies honored for board diversity

Five Vermont companies were honored at The Boston Club’s Corporate Salute on January 12, a biennial celebration that recognizes companies in New England with two or more women directors. In total, 108 companies will be recognized this year. The Boston Club has been compiling the information and hosting the Corporate Salute since 1997.
Janet B. Cady, Executive Chairman of Children's Hospital Trust and President of The Boston Club, said, ‘We congratulate the companies that are being honored today. CEOs across New England are recognizing the value that qualified women bring to the boardroom. The pace of change, however, is slow. The Boston Club stands ready to help CEOs and nominating chairs take a more proactive role when it comes to diversifying their boards."
The keynote speaker at this year's Corporate Salute is Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky, U.S. Trade Representative from 1997 - 2001. Ms. Barshefsky was the architect and negotiator of China's WTO agreement, opening China's economy as a worldwide market. She negotiated hundreds of trade and investment agreements that opened markets, removed regulatory barriers and cemented protections for U.S. investment worldwide.
