Vermont Interactive Television becomes Vermont Interactive Technologies

Vermont Interactive Technologies (VIT), formerly known as Vermont Interactive Television, has a new name to reflect its expanding line of videoconferencing services. In addition to its 17 studios located throughout Vermont, VIT now offers mobile (portable) systems and multi-point bridging to bring its videoconferencing services directly to a customer site, desktop or iPad2.
‘Most everyone associates VIT with our 17 videoconferencing studios sprinkled throughout the state of Vermont, but we offer so much more,’ said Tara Lidstone, VIT executive director. ‘We want our new name to reflect our growing value to Vermont and keep our expanded services top of mind for Vermont businesses and organizations looking to connect with the world.’
VIT has been nationally recognized for its delivery of distance learning programs which enables educational institutions to offer courses to students who are unable to attend classes in person. In addition, businesses, non-profits, regulatory agencies, the Vermont court system, law firms, trade associations and Vermont workers are among those who use its videoconferencing services for everything from conducting job interviews and taking legal depositions to attending workshops, public hearings and gaining professional training and certification.
‘Vermont is fortunate to have such a valuable and vital resource available to the public,’ said Lidstone. ‘We connect Vermonters to each other and connect Vermont to the world. Businesses are able to save time and money and reduce their environmental impacts using our servicesâ ¦educational institutions are able to grow their student base. VIT helps build a stronger Vermont workforce and overall economy.’
Unlike web-based videoconferencing service providers, VIT follows an industry standard protocol (called H.323) which delivers better quality and more reliable audio and video signals for its users. VIT uses sophisticated bridging technology that can connect multiple users’whether in a VIT studio, at their desktop or on an iPad2’into a single videoconference setting. VIT also provides live, round-the-clock, hands-on technical support.
‘The web-based services look tempting,’ said Lidstone. ‘But for those who have experienced poor audio quality or video service interruptions and other reliability issues with these online applications, there really is no comparison to the quality and reliability that VIT provides.’
VIT has provided videoconferencing services since 1988.
