Peoples United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Peoples United Bank, announced today that it has awarded $3,000 to the Vermont Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc.
The center empowers deaf and hard-of-hearing children, adults and families through comprehensive and individualized educational, social and support services. The funding from Peoples United Community Foundation will allow for the expansion of its Adult Career Counseling and Employment Support Service (ACCESS) program into the Burlington, Vermont area to broaden its reach throughout Chittenden County.
Without the support of community-minded organizations like Peoples United, we would not be able to provide the important services we do.It is an honor to partner with Peoples United Community Foundation on this important project, said Bert Carter, President of the Vermont Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
The ACCESS program helps deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals overcome barriers to independent living and obtaining employment, said Michael Seaver, Officer of Peoples United Community Foundation and President of Peoples United Bank in Vermont. We are proud to support them in assisting this population to live autonomously within their communities.
