The Public Service Department today released for public comment a final draft of an addendum to the 2011 Electric Plan. The Department also announced two public hearings on the proposed addendum, to be held December 19, 2012 and January 4, 2013.
Pursuant to section 202(g) of Title 30, the Department has reviewed the 2011 Electric Plan and determined the need to update the plan by incorporating guidelines for electric distribution utilities in the preparation of integrated resource plans (IRPs) and providing general information regarding the process the Department uses to determine whether a proposal is consistent with the Electric Plan under section 202(f). Integrated resource plans are documents developed by each utility that describe the utilitys plan to meet the publics need for energy, after safety concerns are addressed, at the lowest present value life cycle cost, including economic and environmental costs.
The Department released a Request for Information and corresponding RFI draft of the addendum in August, and received comments from utilities, organizations, and members of the public. The final draft released today reflects information and comments received through that process.
In accordance with section 202(e), the Department will hold two public hearings on the final draft prior to any final revisions. These meetings will be held in the Giga Room at the Public Service Department (3rd Floor of 112 State St., Montpelier) at 2pm on Wednesday, December19, 2012, and at 9am on Friday, January 4, 2013.
