Vermonters united to end senior hunger at the 2nd annual CVAA Bowl-a-Thon to Strike out Senior Hunger and Abuse. Twenty-two teams raised nearly $16,000 for CVAA's Meals on Wheels and Case Management programs.Tag Team Bowlers won for the high scoring team and Amy Lavery of Chipmunks Gone Wild won a trip for two to Orlando,Floridaand tickets to Walt Disney World. Team Second String Dwarves was recognized as the team that raised the most pledges to end senior hunger,they raised over $2200.
The theme at this year's bowl-a-thon was Disney and many teams decked out in costumes of their favorite characters.The Arbors of Wonderland won for best costume in their tribute to Alice in Wonderland. Some of the other crowd favorites were the Arbor Puppies, the Striking Beauties, the Comcast team's Snow White and Home Instead Senior Care's Winnie the Pooh tribute.
The CVAA Bowl-a-thon is part of the March for Meals Campaign that raises money and visibility about the issue of senior hunger. During the month of March CVAA collected over 340 signatures pledging to end senior hunger.
Nationally over 2.5 million seniors in the United States are at risk for hunger each day.Locally CVAA delivers over 230,000 Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors here in the Champlain Valley each year.

CVAA is a non-profit organization that empowers seniors to live well. CVAA works with seniors and caregivers, offering guidance and providing the support and services they need, when they need them. With the help of community partners and volunteers, CVAA serves over 10,000 seniors. Established in 1974, CVAA is known as the resource for seniors in the Champlain Valley (Addison, Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties).
