Top Chef August 8: Local restaurants unite to end senior hunger in Vermont

Over 30 local restaurants and caterers are joining the fight to end senior hunger by supporting the Top Chef of the Champlain Valley. The Top Chef benefits CVAA’s Meals on Wheels and Case Management programs. Over 235,000 Meals on Wheels are delivered each year to homebound seniors in the Champlain Valley. The Top Chef of the Champlain Valley, an Iron Chef Experience will be held at UVM's Davis Center on August 8 at 6pm.

Donnell Collins of Leunig’s Bistro will defend her title against Shawn Calley of Amuse at the Essex Resort & Spa and Matt Birong of 3 Squares Café. Chefs will have 50 minutes to create an appetizer and entree using a secret ingredient that will be announced at the start of the competition. Watch the chefs go head to head in this gourmet cook-off. A selection of hors' dourves will be served from some of the areas top restaurants and caterers including the Bearded Frog, Stone Soup, Joyce’s Noodle House, T-Bones Restaurant, the Essex Grill, Dog Team Catering, Farah’s Place, Traders Dukes, American Flatbread, the Holiday Inn and many more. Shelburne Vineyards, Switchback Brewery, Vermont Coffee Company, and Cabot Cheese will be hosting a tasting.
