It will soon be easier for local families to access fresh food and other goods from local, Lamoille County farmers and value-added producers. An innovative on-line farmers’ market is being established by the Lamoille Economic Development Corporation in partnership with local farms.
Farmers and shoppers can find the market at www.yourfarmstand.com, under ‘Morrisville’ and register and set up their account right on-line. Farmers can reach a larger number of buyers while customers benefit from the diversity of products, prices and participating farms. The model has worked well in other Vermont locations and LEDC was approached by some area farms to organize the project here.
‘This is an easy way for families in the region to buy fresh, healthy and delicious farm products while promoting the diversity and economy of Lamoille County farms,’ said Barbara Morrow, project coordinator. ‘It doesn’t replace the various farmer’s markets in the area, but adds a convenient dimension for both farmers and buyers. Both are expressing a lot of excitement about this idea, so we expect a good project all year-round.’
Beginning August 25 ‘ the first distribution date ‘ farms and value-added producers will post produce and products they wish to sell and buyers select the items they want and pay on-line. Farmers will drop off the ordered products, allowing buyers to make a one-stop pick-up for their week’s bag of fresh, local products. The drop off/pick-up point is located at Rock Art Brewery, 632 Laporte Road in Morrisville.
