Rotary to sponsor trip to Taiwan

ROTARY TO SPONSOR TRIP FOR 4 TO TAIWAN
Group Study Exchange Program for Local Professionals
In its ongoing effort to support cultural and professional exchange, the local Rotary will be sponsoring an all-expense paid, month-long paid trip to Taiwan. Four individuals from the ages of 25 to 40 living in Vermont, New Hampshire or Quebec will be selected to participate in the international professional and cultural exchange program. Rotary's District 7850 will sponsors the trip to Taiwan which will be conducted during the spring of 2009 with participants traveling to half of northern Taiwan and a third of central Taiwan.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for international social and occupational networking," stated Sara Sprayregen, Director of the Group Study Exchange Program. "It will truly promote understanding and goodwill between our countries."
The district-wide search will select four team members from various professional walks of life. An important stipulation is that team members cannot be Rotary members or related to Rotarians. "Our goal is to support young professionals and give them a unique learning experience" said Ms Sprayregen. Travel, room, and board is provided by Rotary International and the partnering district. Participants will have the opportunity to stay with families in Taiwan, network with professional counterparts and travel across the country interacting with Rotarians in Taiwan. The month long trip will occur March 21, 2009 to April 17, 2009.
During October through March, the four team members will prepare for the trip by spending time learning the culture, the economy, traditions, and the geography. "We want to insure that our team members have a rich and valuable experience which will require a lot of preparation" said Caryn Crump, Team Leader for this year's trip to Taiwan. Participants will also be required to present information about their professions to the various Rotary Groups in Taiwan. Language proficiency is not required.
