KELLIHER SAMETS VOLK RECOGNIZED WITH DIGITAL & PUBLIC RELATIONS AWARDS IN 2008
Agency Awarded for Work With Efficiency Vermont, Stowe Mountain Resort, Unicel, Concept2 and Crane & Co.
November, 2008 - Burlington, Vt. - Kelliher Samets Volk (KSV), a full-service marketing firm headquartered in Burlington, has been recognized this year with a number of prestigious awards from around the country.
KSV's digital group's work was honored by a number of national organizations, including the 2008 W3 Awards (3 awards), the Web Marketing Association, the Magellan Award from Travel Weekly magazine, the Web Marketing Association (3 awards), and Adobe Systems Inc.'s "Adobe Site of the Day." The public relations group at KSV also received numerous awards for its work from the Publicity Club of New England.
W3 Awards. In October, KSV was awarded one gold and two silver awards at the 2008 W3 Awards, a competition honoring creative excellence on the web.
* The gold award was awarded to the "Start Where You Are" Web site (www.startwhereyouare.org), created for the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) as part of a campaign to encourage low-income Vermont students and their families to consider post-secondary education. The Web site includes an interactive quiz to help kids identify their strengths, videos submitted by teens, and links to career and college planning resources.
* One silver award was awarded to the "I Found It" campaign created for Stowe Mountain Resort, a campaign that built upon customer experiences called "Stowe Stories" and allowed users to share videos, photos, and access vacation-planning tools.
* The second silver was awarded to the "New Bulb in Town" campaign developed for Efficiency Vermont. This Web site featured interactive elements to convince visitors to switch to CFLs in their homes; it also included a savings calculator and Google mash-up to display store locations.
Web Awards. In September, KSV and Stowe Mountain Resort received a 2008 Web Award from the Web Marketing Association for Outstanding Achievement in the Education category. The award came for KSV's work on the "Start Where You Are" site for client VSAC.
Magellan Award. Also in September, KSV received the 2008 Magellan Award, the premier award in travel, from Travel Weekly magazine. The winning entry was the "I Found It" campaign.
Bell Ringer Awards. In June, KSV receive two Bell awards and two merits at the 2008 Publicity Club of New England's Bell Ringer Swards. Held annually since 1969, these awards recognize outstanding achievements by public relations and communications professionals in New England.
* The first award-winning entry was on behalf of client Crane & Co., in the Feature or Commentary Placement Online category. The entry was a blog post featuring Crane on the popular online style blog, Stylehive.
* The second award-winning entry was submitted on behalf of client Concept2 in the Print Feature or Commentary Placement: Regional/General Interest Publication category. The entry was a cover story in Newsday, a publication with a readership of six million.
* The first merit was on behalf of client Concept2 in the Feature or Commentary Placement: Magazine category, for placement in Best Life magazine.
* The second merit was on behalf of client Unicel in the Special Events: Single Campaign category, for a charity promotion held in Minnesota.
Internet Advertising Competition. Earlier this year, KSV received two "Best of Industry" awards and one "Outstanding" mention at the 2008 Internet Advertising Competition, an annual award contest produced by the Web Marketing Association.
* The first award was given to the "I Found It" campaign for client Stowe Mountain Resort.
* The second award was given for a microsite developed for Vermont Public Radio (VPR). The site allowed users to listen to the live radio broadcast from within a banner ad, and provided the opportunity to continue listening or learn more about VPR programming.
* The "Outstanding" mention was given to a "Gift Finder" advertisement developed for client Unicel for Holiday 2007. The ad prompted users to select the family member they were shopping for (i.e. "Mom" or "Daughter"), and then launched a series of questions, eventually selecting a phone that would meet that gift recipient's needs. Users could then send themselves a reminder e-mail about their gift choices.
Adobe Site of the Day. KSV work was also twice recognized as the "Adobe Site of the Day," a daily award given by Adobe Systems Inc. to a Web site that demonstrates strong visual design, superior functionalities, and innovative uses of Adobe products.
* The first Web site recognized was the "New Bulb in Town" Web site developed for client Efficiency Vermont.
* The second Web site recognized was the "Start Where You Are" site developed for client the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation.
