Burlington Electric hires EnerNOC to run demand response program

EnerNOC Signs Contract with Burlington Electric Department
Demand Response Program Provides Pricing Stability for Vermont Ratepayers
BOSTON, MA, July 1, 2008 - EnerNOC, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENOC), a leading developer and provider of clean and intelligent energy solutions, today announced that it has signed a contract with Burlington Electric Department to deliver up to 10 megawatts of demand response capacity. This capacity will help provide wholesale electricity market pricing stability that will benefit all Burlington ratepayers.
EnerNOC currently has a network of commercial, institutional, and industrial sites throughout the Burlington area that provides reliability-based demand response to the Independent System Operator of New England. This new contract is a bilateral agreement directly with Burlington Electric Department to provide a supplemental, economic-based resource that Burlington Electric Department will dispatch during periods of peak demand when electricity on the wholesale market is most expensive.
"We've seen first hand how valuable a resource demand response is in our service territory," said Ken Nolan, Director of Resource Planning, Burlington Electric Department. "We're looking forward to further leveraging this important, clean resource to help mitigate spikes in wholesale prices and ensure our ratepayers have access to affordable electricity."
"We believe that our established footprint in Vermont enables us to quickly provide Burlington Electric Department this valuable resource and drive multiple revenue streams from our existing installed base of megawatts under management. Burlington customers that are already enrolled in our national demand response network will have another opportunity to earn incremental payments, ratepayers throughout the region will benefit from pricing stability, and Burlington Electric Department will benefit by being able to avoid buying power on the wholesale market during times of peak demand," said Tim Healy, chairman and CEO of EnerNOC. "We believe that economic demand response opportunities like this one represent a win-win-win situation."
The contract term extends through December 2012 and is not subject to regulatory approval.
