Captive Insurance Conference August 10-12

Burlington to host largest Captive Insurance Conference in the World
The Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) will host the largest captive insurance conference in the world, August 10-12, 2004 in Burlington, Vermont. More than 1000 people from around the world and throughout the United States are expected to attend.
The Conference will be held at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center. Diving into Captives is the theme of the gathering and will feature keynote speaker, Dr. Robert Ballard, a renowned deep sea explorer and discoverer of the sunken R.M.S. Titanic.
The Conference brings together leading experts in the captive insurance industry, who will facilitate a variety of seminars and workshops about all aspects of the captive insurance industry. Vermont is the largest domicile in the U.S. for captive insurance. More than 1000 jobs paying 74% higher than Vermonts average wage are attributed to the industry. Vermonts captive insurance companies generated $20 million in premium tax revenue for the States General Fund. Press are invited to attend the entire conference as well as a scheduled press conference at 1:45 pm on August 11th at the Carleton Boardroom at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center.
In addition, join us on Monday, August 9th at 4:00 pm for a press conference and reception to launch the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE). The event will be held in Memorial Lounge at the Waterman Building on the University of Vermont campus. ICCIE (pronounced I see) is the captive insurance industrys first complete educational and certification program in the United States, and the culmination of two and one half years of planning under the wing of VCIA and its President, Molly Lambert. Meet the faculty; review the curriculum; thank the donors; and join University of Vermont President, Dan Fogel, Governor Jim Douglas (invited) and captive insurance leaders as we inaugurate this significant addition to the captive industry.
